I don't often talk to inanimate objects, but that evening I was cheering on the sun, practically yelling out my adoration of its works as it slowly sank and lit the mountain in new ways. Being on that hill was the culmination of several days of planning: I spotted the location days before from the main road in he area, but that first evening I tried none of the right light fell for what I wanted. After waiting a while for conditions to improve, I went back one chilly evening and sat there on the hill for about an hour just watching the sun set over the mountain- and photographing each new nuanced variation of light. My hands were numb and the rest of me shivering, but my heart was absolutely on fire.
