Fall Creek Falls, ID This photo was taken at the same location that, the night before ,I am pretty sure I was being stalked by a mountain lion. I had been outside of my car for a little while, and as I got back in and started to drive, I saw the tail end of a cougar disappear into the brush on the hillside. At first all I thought was "cool, I got to see a rare animal!" Only later did I think that I had just been outdoors alone at night... Beautiful location though, a stone's throw from the Tetons. Here's another image I'm entering to that Idaho photo contest.
Austin, Texas This was a pretty fun photo to get. I was chasing these bees around for a long time trying to find the right combination of 1) good composition and 2) a bee actually holding still long enough in said composition. Eventually this guy buzzed into an area with a lot of light reflecting off the brick wall, which made for a nice warm glow and complimented the green vegetation. And, somehow, he struck this pretty classic pose just long enough for me to catch him in the act. Thanks, bees!
Zion National Park, UT // A mystical icon in the snow. In this view, all of the phases of water- liquid, vapor, and ice- have come together to make a dynamic and mystical landscape. As a side note, "mystical" is one of my favorite words to describe Zion. It's such a wonderful thing that kept such a place protected.
